John Stark, American revolutionary war general. He was promoted to Brigadier General in October 1777. In September 1780, he was ordered to relieve General Saint Claire at West Point. Officer in the Revolutionary War. Gansevoort commanded Fort Stanwix during it's seige in 1777 and was eventually promoted to brigadier general of the New York State Militia.
